| Yeah, definitely use chicken wire or some wire mesh to use as like a foundation. Bend the coping first, and if its going to be on a table as a bowl then use bricks or styrofoam as somewhat of a mold. And use Quikrete. | |

thats only if you want to use about the most BORING shape in the world, no offense. Listen up: what you will need is : 2. 2x4 inch by width 2. 2x4 inch by length and enough 2x4 inch studs on the sides to lay on the bottom so there are no cracks. then take bricks and somewhat make the bowl shape you want. next mix the concrete and pour it into the shape, or frame basically. make it smooth. Pretty self explanitory, but whatever.

switchfingers i feel that its better to keep the concrete grinding feel because its really exclusive. you only get that in bonsei and other concrete obstabcles. just wax it , there is no much need for coping. try not to do to it in styrofoam. trust me its not gonna be easy. but chicken wire is a good move. you will need alot of sanding just as fbskater said. its way better to do it with stone-less concrete or it will take a fuck load of sanding. trust me i did a manual pad before. definitely lacquer the stuff you have done. good luck.
