| So my friend's mom works in a hotel by the Maloof Money Cup skatepark in flushing. She asked if I could make a skateboard that she could put on display in the lobby. The skateboard needs a Christmas theme and shes giving me a graphic to hand draw on the deck. I have about 20 feet of veneer that I want to get rid of so I figured this would be a great use for it. She will give me a small, simple contract. I'm thinking of turning it into a cruiser shaped like a Christmas tree and setting it up with my old trucks and wheels. She will be paying around $50-$60 for the deck itself. please give me your opinions | |

| That'd be cool, Shape the deck to look like a christmas tree and paint the details on, and if you get creative enough even do a green griptape with red griptape ordiments, a yellow griptape start and even white griptape ribbon around the whole tree.. but to do this in 10 days would be a challenge all on it's own. good luck that'd be really cool to see what you do. | |

| i measured the veeneer to the size that i needed. i made a press out of old skateboards and concrete blocks (works like a charm). since the veneer was too thick for fingerboarding, i used it for a skateboard. also i dont think glue would make a big deal since it is only for display, not use. someone puts their feet on it and im getting my pimp hand out. The idea is to get the look of an actual skateboard, but not the actual effect (if that makes sense) kinda like a fake christmas tree. My dad built like half of whats in my backyard so i know for sure he has the tools, because he almost cut his finger off with a jigsaw. And I've taken stuff from his tool shed before. | |

| yea. im planning on making it a size 8x30 because its my preference. if i mess up i can just make it smaller. i just realized im running low on sandpaper because i only have like 6 inches left of it. gonna go pick some up along with some green red and white spray paint. and some green and red grip. if i dont get the contract and the chance to hand it in, i might redesign it and sell it to prima pizza (local pizzeria) because the owner is chill and i go there all the time. | |

| How thick is your veneer exactly? As in millimeters or centimeters thick. If it's not the right thickness you could end up with a fifty ply deck. I've looked into full size deck making and it's not as easy as it seems, not that I'm trying to discourage you or bad mouth your idea, but I would run this by Jordan Green or someone with similar experience in deck making. Also, THIS video may help you with the process factories use. I know your not building a factory, but your mechanics should end up being of a similar, albeit smaller scaled, form. | |

Also, THIS video may help you with the process factories use. I know your not building a factory, but your mechanics should end up being of a similar, albeit smaller scaled, form. i have never gotten to the exact measurement of the veneer. its visibly thicker than fingerboard veneer, but slightly thinner than normal skateboard veneer. i ended up doubling the plies to get the thickness of an actual skateboard. im not sure how the deck has been working out since i left it in my toolshed right before the snowstorm. once all this snow gets cleaned a bit i'll check it out. i dont think my friends mom is interested in it anymore, so i might just give it to my friends at prima pizza, or turn it into a fingerboard obstacle. | |
